Frequently Asked Questions

What is WP-Sitebuilder?

A. WP-Sitebuilder is a set of web publishing tools and services, based on WordPress, and includes a domain name and website (yours to keep if you discontinue your WP-Sitebuilder subscription), web hosting, email, security, backup, and training.

What Can I Do with WP-Sitebuilder?

A. You can create a website for a business or organization, a personal site, family site or blog. Freely available “plugins” let you easily add functions to your site, like embedding video or a slideshow, interacting with social networks, or selling online.

My Own Domain Name?

A. The name you select can be a .com, .net, or .org. To check availability of names, go to the InterNIC Whois page. If you send us a name you’ve already registered, you will be asked to update your domain’s Name Servers to settings we provide. If you submit a name already registered to someone else, we will recommend several alternatives for you to choose among. When we provide a domain name for your WP-Sitebuilder service, you will be listed as Registrant, or domain name owner. We will be listed as the Administrative Contact for your domain. If you discontinue your WP-Sitebuilder subscription, we will initiate a transfer of domain administration to you. If you do not accept the transfer, the name will expire approximately 90 days after your subscription ends.

What is WP-Sitebuilder Hosting?

A. We lease high-speed Linux servers in major data centers located in Texas, Illinois, and New Jersey. We provide reliable web servers, database servers, email servers and name servers for your domain(s). Our system is ideal for self-hosted WordPress site owners who do not want the tasks of network administrator or vulnerability manager. We monitor the health of your site, updating software and adding new tools regularly, and backing up your entire site, including files, content, and database, daily.

What About Email?

A. Email is integrated into your domain and website. Your mail server can handle POP3 or IMAP clients, and includes our browser-based Webmail. This white-labeled email interface is very convenient both for office-based and on-the-road use.

How Much Does It Cost?

A. The WP-Sitebuilder subscription price is based on a monthly rate billed quarterly. When the service launches in January, 2012, it will be priced at $33 per month ($99 per quarter). For those who subscribe before midnight, Dec. 30, 2011, the rate is $29 per month ($87 per quarter). Everyone who subscribes should plan to attend a WP-Sitebuilder Workshop (Wed., Jan. 18, 8:30 a.m. to noon, at DeVry University, Ft. Washington, PA) where you’ll learn how to use this great software to build the website you want.

Is Anything Else Needed?

A. If you just want to create a basic website providing information, pictures or other media to your online audience, WP-Sitebuilder includes everything you need. If you have plans to do more with your site, there are thousands of additional free or commercial plugins that will help you accomplish your web goals. If you ask us, we will recommend free products and services first, and let you know if there are options that have costs associated, so you can make decisions about how to proceed. If you have any concerns about whether WP-Sitebuilder can do something that you want for your site, email your questions to wp-sitebuilder@servernet.us.
